A: An unexpected accident, illness or injury before or during travel can derail the best laid plans. Cancellation fees and medical expenses can add up quickly. Insurance protects your financial investment. Any prepaid, non-refundable components of your trip should be insured.
Also, most U.S. health insurance plans do NOT cover international travel. Some provide reimbursement upon your return but it is your responsibility to have and submit the appropriate paperwork. It is very important to have a policy that includes an emergency assistance hotline, medical coverage and medical evacuation.
One of my top recommendations for the South Pacific are cruises on the intimate and luxurious Paul Gauguin to Tahiti’s Society Islands, Tuamotus Atolls and Marquesas as well as special voyages to the Cook Islands.

We’ve just been transported from the Pacifc Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean.
Watch for the expressive individual style of each of these five Gombey dancers from Hamilton, Bermuda. Note that each person is showcased separately while masked to protect his identity.
The entire troupe entertains at the outdoor Harbor Nights street fest along the waterfront in Hamilton each Wednesday evening from spring through fall. It can be difficult to get a clear view due to the gathered crowds.
Enjoy your front row seat at this private performance with just a few of the members of this group. Just try NOT to move your body to that beat!

I am fascinated by the youngest performers. They often have energy and enthusiasm in lieu of the practiced skill and precision of experienced dancers. Their personailities and raw talent certainly shine through in their pure enjoyment of the activity.

In contrast to polynesian dance, melanesian dance is more restrained for female dancers. These Fijian women are more conservatively dressed and make smaller foot movements and hand gestures in their traditional dance performance. Interestingly, this is not the case with the male dancers who lean toward very assertive postures and actions.

The remote Marquesas Islands are a world apart from the Society Islands. They are separate and unique. The landscape itself is fiercely rugged with high mountains, hidden waterfalls, and jungle-like forests. Notice how these qualities have influenced the Marquesan dance elements and costumes.

Now, another variation on male dance. These dances are all based on standard polynesian drum rhythms. Listen carefully. Can you differentiate between them? Go ahead, tap your foot along with the beat! Also, notice the costume change.
