Where to Next in 2025?
So Many Places, So Little Time

Speaking of feeding . . .

Play along with me & Dream a little . . .
The quintessential question – “With no limits,
IF you could go anywhere, where would it be?”
What’s the 1st place that pops into your head?
No, don’t throw up roadblocks of time & money.

Now, what’s the 2nd?

And what’s the 3rd?

There are valuable nuggets of information in your answers.
Write them down so you can refer back to your Wish List.
Are there common themes?
What is preventing you?

Timing is Everything
“When opportunity knocks, answer the door!”
It applies to Life in general and to travel specifically.

What are you waiting for?

Venture Farther . . .

Expand your horizons and travel beyond the most famous and most crowded places.

Already traveled to Moorea & Bora Bora? Consider other more interesting islands in Tahiti.
Already visited Mykonos & Santorini? Explore less traveled Greek Isles in the Aegean Sea.
Already been to Paris? Trade the city for regions in France as well as neighboring countries.
Already experienced Sydney? The island continent of Australia offers 7 different territories.

Australia Amazing
I have dedicated over 25 years of my life to becoming/being an Expert for Oceania – the Pacific Islands, Australia & New Zealand. I have talked about Australia many times in my newslettter. Tropical Queensland is 1 of the 7 territories (think states) on this island continent. It is a very family friendly destination with lots of activities for “kids” of all ages. I visited 5 locations in 10 days on an inspection team this year. Here are just a few highlights. These experiences (& more) can be created for you!

Cairns
A gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, Kuranda Rainforest & Daintree National Park. Pictured here, the Esplanade, a boardwalk where all the action is – hotels, dining, shopping, entertainment, ferris wheel, public swimming pool, marina & more.
Great Barrier Reef
Cairns is just one of several entry points to the reef. Views from above on a helicopter, from below snorkeling or diving from a reef pontoon, from inside a semisubmersible or observation deck. (See all the videos on my Facebook page).

The Gold Coast

South of the capital city of Brisbane, a favorite vacation area for Aussies, with long sandy beaches, surf spots like Surfer’s Paradise & major theme parks.

Koala Meet & Greet

You had me at . . . koala! My new koala friend Baloo is a big boy & surprisingly heavy. Among all the Australian wildlife at Currumbin Sanctuary, we were completely enamoured by the koalas & the rare opportunity to actually hold one for a few moments.

The Sunshine Coast

Calling all foodies. Tasting tours in the hinterland. Aboriginal bush tucker. Fresh catch seafood. Local botanical brews.

Hamilton Island
1 of the 74 Whitsunday Islands, off the coast of Queensland, even closer to the GBR.
You knew this Island Girl had to find her way to a tropical island.

A Slice of Paradise
An infinity pool with views of Cat’s Eye Beach, Hamilton Island.
Can I just stay here? sigh.

Whitehaven Beach
Pristine. World famous for its long, wide stretch of soft silica sand that gleams a brilliant white on a sunny day. Been here before. It’s an easy day trip. Walked all the way to the far end this time.

Exotic Eats

The famous Ochre Restaurant in Cairns specializes in modern Australian cuisine using native foods with a creative twist. See descriptions below.

Australian Antipasto Platter, left to right:
(l) lemon aspen and beetroot gravlax
(c) smoked crocodile w/ finger lime
(c) wild spice kangaroo w/ rosella relish
(r) emu wonton w/ Davidson plum
I doubt any of these will be on your holiday table.

Happy Holidays

Out of Office
My office will be closed Wed – Fri over the holiday, back on Mon Dec 2. I will be departing Tues Dec 3 for a Tahiti Travel Conference plus inspections on 5 islands in 10 days, returning Mon Dec 16. Follow my journey on Facebook.

Cleaning House
I’ll be updating the newsletter list in January. If you’ve been on the list for a while & find Island Getaways is not a good fit, not the travel company for you, you can unsubscribe below.

The Sea is Calling . . .
with its pink sand beaches & turquoise waters. I must go.
Ask me about Tikehau in the Tahiti’s Tuamotus Atolls.
See you in the New Year 2025!
